The Pin code Protector Field Research

My research and design intervention centres on ‘surf and turf’ crime that occurs when unsuspecting consumers conduct card transactions at the point of sale. Currently, chip and pin magnetic terminals provide very little protection against the wondering eye of artificial surveillance cameras, cashiers and consumers waiting in a queue. These visuals seen provide a clear demonstration of how exposed we are when entering our personal pin codes in a public space.
It became my determination to design a retro fitting, cost effective solution to this problem, the ‘Pin code Protector’ (please see design intervention on the following page).
